Led by Ross Horsley's introduction, I ended up at a web site called Sterling Stories, which features a number of (I would say) kind of bizarre stories for children.
I'm familiar with "Little Black Sambo" from my childhood, but I didn't know the other fascinating stories.
Just as Ross said, my head got messed up reading the brilliant pieces.
Great escape from logical but tedious common sense.
