Around strokes

Wiggly lines are fun. They have a playful, doodle-like feel. You can draw them with any tool, but the strokes on this page add wiggles whether you want them or not.

These paths are derived from the base path and drawn as new strokes.

Spiral: The tip circles using sin and cos while its center moves along the base path, producing one continuous coil. It completes one turn for each cycle of arc length, so every loop advances the same distance regardless of the stroke's length.

Entangled: Copies of the path are offset by seeded low-frequency waves. The wave count scales with the path's length, keeping the wiggles evenly spaced on both long and short strokes.

Scattered: Short strokes copy small segments of the base path and shift sideways by a seeded offset. The stroke count scales with the path's length, maintaining the scatter's density as the path grows. This one would arguably fit better on the patterned strokes page.

A single path weaves from side to side across the base path. The width controls the wave's amplitude and scales the overall shape, while the wavelength is a fixed distance in pixels. The brush line's thickness is calculated from these two values and kept between 2 and 6 pixels to remain proportional to the shape. The number of waves scales with the path's length, keeping the pattern consistent across strokes.
